The 2025 Met Gala celebrated not just fashion, but the history, excellence, and influence of Black style. With the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the evening honored centuries of craftsmanship, cultural identity, and the enduring impact of Black creatives in fashion.

The Costume Institute’s exhibit, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s Slaves to Fashion, traced more than 250 years of Black style—highlighting everything from dandyism and cultural rebellion to modern-day red carpet icons. For us at La’ Agra, it was both a reflection and a spark—proof that real elegance comes from history, heritage, and the courage to express yourself boldly.

Here are some of our favorite highlights from the the 2025 Met Gala highlights that embodied the theme with power, presence, and precision.

1. Zendaya in Maison Margiela by John Galliano

Returning to the Met carpet with intention, Zendaya wore a tailored white suit from Louis Vuitton (with a later Galliano switch). Her look fused sharp menswear lines with red carpet drama—an homage to Black dandyism and modern femininity.

2. Diana Ross in Ugo Mozie

In a sweeping white feathered gown embroidered with the names of her children and grandchildren, Diana Ross quite literally wore her legacy. Designed by Ugo Mozie with her son Evan Ross, the look was personal, powerful, and a living archive

3. Colman Domingo in Valentino

Colman Domingo paid tribute to the late André Leon Talley in an embellished Valentino cape that felt equal parts regal and revolutionary. A standout look that didn’t just wear the theme—it honored it.

Defining Style Through Legacy

The best Met Gala looks this year weren’t just fashion—they were statements. From pearl-studded tuxedos to heirloom embroidery, each ensemble elevated tailoring to storytelling. It was an evening where craftsmanship met culture, and luxury walked with lived experience.

At La’ Agra, we’re endlessly inspired by the intersections of identity, elegance, and intention. Superfine wasn’t just the theme—it was a reminder that the finest style has depth.
